Remote Quantum-Safe Authentication of Entities with Physical Unclonable Functions

چکیده
Physical unclonable functions have been shown to be a useful resource of randomness for implementing various cryptographic tasks including entity authentication. All the related authentication protocols that discussed in literature so far, either they are vulnerable an emulation attack, or limited short distances. Hence, quantum-safe remote over large distances remains open question. In first part this work, we discuss requirements protocol has offer, practice. Subsequently, propose protocol, which can operate distances, and offers security against both classical quantum adversaries. The proposed relies on standard techniques, it is fully compatible with infrastructure existing future photonic networks, parallel other protocols, QKD protocols.

Quantum readout of Physical Unclonable Functions: Remote authentication without trusted readers and authenticated Quantum Key Exchange without initial shared secrets
Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) are physical structures that are hard to clone and have a unique challenge-response behaviour. The term PUF was coined by Pappu et al. in 2001. That work triggered a lot of interest, and since then a substantial number of papers has been written about the use of a wide variety of physical structures for different security purposes such as identification, aut...

متن کاملContinuous-variable quantum authentication of physical unclonable keys
We propose a scheme for authentication of physical keys that are materialized by optical multiple-scattering media. The authentication relies on the optical response of the key when probed by randomly selected coherent states of light, and the use of standard wavefront-shaping techniques that direct the scattered photons coherently to a specific target mode at the output. The quadratures of the...
متن کاملUsing Physical Unclonable Functions for Hardware Authentication: A Survey
Physical unclonable functions (PUFs) are drawing a crescent interest in hardware oriented security due to their special characteristics of simplicity and safety. However, their nature as well as early stage of study makes them constitute currently a diverse and non-standardized set for designers. This work tries to establish one organization of existing PUF structures, giving guidelines for the...
